Sieur de Monts and the Wild Gardens of Acadia are often overlooked spots in Acadia National Park but contain a plethora of diversity for the photographer. Taking an hour or two will reward you with glimpses into the many intimate landscapes that pepper the larger geographic area. The water along the stream is usually very calm and is a great place to capture reflections. I walked across the parking lot and into this stand of trees last fall, pointing the lens upward to see what I could find. I could have easily gone with a color image, the leaves all being a bright yellow, but I wanted to reflect something classic and make the shot more about structure while continuing to refine my skills in monochromatic imagery.
